Finch and Reese at Sunset. Person of Interest. by Isaacsporcaelus Finch and Reese at Sunset. Person of Interest. by Isaacsporcaelus
Okay! Where to start! Well, I've been meaning to draw Michael Emerson for a few years now as I'm a big fan of his work, and that's what initially drew me to Person of Interest. Suffice to say I got hooked on the show right from the pilot episode and my admiration of the duo's relationship developed quite rapidly, until I felt the usual compulsive need to draw them both.

I seldom draw people unless I have some sort of respect for them. I'm not one for big-headed celebrities. So anyway, I read up on Jim Caviezel and only then did I realise he'd played Jesus in Passion of the Christ. Coincidentally, after I'd watched that film years before I'd always wondered who the actor was as he just completely reduced me to tears at the time. Additionally, in real life I discovered that Jim seems like a really lovely man (as is Mr Emerson!) He's been married for many years and he and his wife have adopted two very poorly children. So, yeah . . . if that doesn't inspire you to draw someone, I don't know what does! Ever since then I've been backtracking, going through his films and I'm so pleased I did, as many of Jim's movies among my all time favorites.

Year 2012
Materials: Graphite pencils 2b - 6b, putty eraser, eye-shadow applicator for blending, charcoal.
Time: Roughly two to three weeks to complete. Actual overall time estimated at around 10 - 12 hours. The skyline was the definitely the worst part for me. I'm not used to drawing scenery of any description, so I humbly ask you forgive the quality of that! Again, for some reason I never manage particularly well with clothing, either. Still, I think their likenesses came out alright so that I am pleased with.

Also guys, for anyone who's interested, I've decided to draw the whole cast in pairs in the same, one profile, one facing style with a scenic background. Elias and Scarface are done, and Carter and Fusco, Shaw and Root (and Bear) will follow in the future. :meow:

This is absolutely beautifully done. I'm a big fan of these guys, too, and I think you really got their whole dynamic.

I too, have a hard time drawing jerks ;)

Thank you! Oh yeah, they're certainly a brilliant duo and incredible actors in their own right, too. :meow:

Yeah, it's a difficult task, isn't it? I don't know . . . it's hard to muster the enthusiasm to spend so much detail, time and care on someone you're constantly reminding yourself is a thoroughly unpleasant human being. CURSE YOU!

:lmao: I couldn't agree more! If I see a face I really want to draw, I will purposely avoid learning anything about the person till I've done the portrait, you know, just in case ;) lol

Sounds like a logical plan! ;) I really can't help myself, though. I have to find out if my gut instinct is right or if I'm just wasting my time on a horrible person XD It eats away at me, distracting me as I'm drawing lol. Strangely, though, characters from films and literature I can draw without having to think about that, even if I'm aware the actor portraying them isn't a particularly pleasant person. I suppose it's just because I see them as the character, nothing more. Odd, isn't it? :D

You know you've done it right when I person like me peeks at your gallery and says "Hey, that's Michael Emerson!" Despite not even having seen him since the finale of Lost.

Very lovely work

Thanks Danie! I think your gallery is brilliant, so thank you very much! And thanks for the favourite and the llama too! :D Haha, yeah, I love Michael Emerson. He's such an amazing actor - and a great illustrator, too!
