Description
To this day I still haven't finished this drawing. When I first started it, I'm not going to fib, I was really chuffed at how much I was beginning to improve since trying out some new techniques on my Gary Oldman portrait. I'd started to draw this only a few weeks after I'd finished that portrait. The only difference this time was, instead of cartridge paper, I'd ripped out some thicker sketch pad paper from my ancient school Art book.
As time passed, though, with long periods of not being able to do any work on it, I began to see major flaws in it and when I was eventually able to do more work on it, I just didn't know what could be done to improve it. So, I decided to stop where I was at and just view it as another vital stepping stone in terms of my technique.
I am still really fond of this portrait. I've always enjoyed Sean Bean's work. I'd drawn him a couple of times before as a child, since I've always been fascinated with his weathered features, but this is the best likeness I've achieved thus far. I will be drawing him again in the future, though!
